I grew up in Pittsburgh and do remember enjoying Vernor's. It was interesting reading the posts about Boston Coolers. In my family I seem to recall a half of a cantaloupe filled with vanilla ice cream being referred to as a Boston Cooler. Does anyone know of a place in Central Minnesota that sells Vernor's?
I have a wooden Vernors box from 1966. It is in almost mint condition. It has printed on the inside with: STURDY-BILT by Southern Wooden Box Inc. Jonesboro, Ark 3-66 Vernors is printed on each side of the box both inside and outside. Does anyone have information as to who might be interested is such a box for nostalgia reasons? Thank you Darrell Poliquin
I've read several emails on your website re Vernors and the Boston Cooler - specifically why this marevlous drink is called what it is called. It was indeed "invented" in Detroit and using Vernors with vanilla ice cream - but the drink is unknown in Boston and most every place else. The name of the drink is taken from a street in Detroit... Boston Boulevard. I grew up in Detroit... moved to Milwaukee with my father's job at American Motors in the 1950's and have been bringing back cases of Vernors to Milwaukee for years and years... only recently and to my great joy have we been able to start finding it again in stores around Southeastern Wisconsin.
Where to Find Vernors in PA and Wetern NY. a Grocery Store called Wegmens or Wegmans used to sell it. Not sure about today. I have not been there in afew years. If you cannot find a place to buy vernors where you live, then order it from www.vernors.com for the person who wanted a Lable for his POP Machine. Right click on the two vernors cans on this page. Click Save Picture as. After the picture is saved, open it up with a photo editor/viewer. Print, cut out and stick in your PoP Machine. Hope this helps.....
I was born in Michigan, then moved to Pennsylvania as a child. I have continued to enjoy Vernors Gingerale whenever possible and have introduced it to my wife and son. It is a family favorite! However, I live in the southcentral PA area and have stopped being able to find anyone who carries it. I also know of several ofther families in this area who love this soda. Can anyone tell me where, in PA preferable but wherever, I can continue to buy Vernor's? HELP!

Why is Vanilla Ice Cream with Vernor's Ginger Ale called a Boston Cooler?
Do any stores in the Los Angeles area still sell Vernors in glass bottles? Does glass-bottled Vernors still exist?
My boyfriend grew up in Chicago (Lincoln Park) enjoying Vernors and I didn't even discover it until we moved out of IL to CA! To all the Midwesterners (and others) that are searching for Vernors, it can be found at Raley's in both California and Nevada.
Where can I purchase vernors ginger ale? can it be shipped to Scranton pa????
It all started way back in mid fifties I fell for the best tasting soda around and I have everywhere for it. I was hoping by now you would explore in marketing Vernors soda in the North East. If it's already in the market L would like to know where. Thank you.
I remember smelling the wonderful Wonder Bread factory every morning whil driving to Univ. of Detroit. I remember Lou's Deli, their absolutely great coffee across from the "grave" Marygrove. I attended the dental school and main campus and had music classes at Marygrove. I waited on coach Vitale, his wife and two young daughters at Momma Mia's restaurant where I was a waitress for a week. I recognized him, and he denied who he was right to my face! I remember the two dollar tip I got from him too. I remember the "big tire" on the freeway. Farrell's Ice cream and the ZOO! J.L Hudsons, Crowleys, Kresge's ...Lekofsky's great corned beef sandwiches on rye slathered in mustard, and a Creamed Loganberry from Kreeger's. Miss Bob-lo, and the ethnic festivals downtown in the summer. I lived in Dearborn and attended Edsel Ford in the '70's. Comerica park didn't exist and we had a Tiger's Stadium. Oh yes, one thing that never changes are the great pot holes on I-94.
I would like to know where the Boston Cooler was first made. Does anyone know this? I heard it was here in Detroit but then why is it called a Boston cooler?? Please I really need to know this it bothers me everyday. 🙂
I'm from Michigan but reside in New Jersey, they don't sell Vernors here. So, my family brings it when they visit or I bring it back here with me. I need this drink and have always drank it as a child. I always tease my family and tell them to have a toast of Vernors at my Eulogy and place a bottle with me before I go. However, my mom never finds this to be funny. CWilli
I used to be able to get Vernor's whenever I visited Detroit. I also took some home to my Chicago area (Park Ridge) more than just a few cases . Some times I would have my trunk packed with it to last till my next trip to Detroit area. I finally found that they are selling Vernor's in my local JEWEL stores. What a relief, now I don't have to pack my trunk. What a great drink. Can't be beat, by flavor or taste.
I, too, grew up in the Detroit area and even our "general practice" doctor (Dr. Christman) prescribed warm vernors when we had upset tummies. I sure could use some right now. Am so glad I found this website. Once in awhile, I am able to find Vernors in Charlotte, NC but not even close to often enough. Where is it?? I need a "fix"!
I grew up in Michigan and was raised on Vernors and then on diet Vernors when I was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. When my family moved to Vermont, we found "ginger ale" to be a flat disappointment. There was no access to the barrel aged elixer we knew. On a recent trip to Chicago, I had a layover in Detroit and, on my return trip, I bought ten plastic bottles of Vernors & stuck them in my carryon luggage. My wife and kids, who had never tasted Vernors, became instantly hooked. Having found the website, I can now order the "real stuff" and get it delivered to the Green Mountain State and hoard it in my home. Thanks!!!
