Here's another "how old is this Vernors bottle" question. I have a 10 oz. clear glass bottle with raised lettering. It has the message "Genuine only when Crown Cork has the above design in Red." Above this statement are the words "Vernor's Ginger Ale and then a circle with a design and around it is Vernor's Ginger Ale - Detroit Mich." The same design and wording appears on the bottom. On the other side is"This bottle contains 10 oz. 1143EG24." Can anybody give me the age of this bottle?

Aloha, Just a note, got my order of Vernor's yesterday, opening a can I let the scent of the ale take me back to my youth, when I would bicycle down to the foot of Woodward and watch the bottling operation go on in the old Vernors bottling plant for it seemed like hours. The Bob-Lo boats (boat?) would come and go, the people would dis-embark and as a last treat go into the fountain for a glass of Vernors or a cream ale. Mahalo and aloha nui loa from prardise. Steve

I agree with the below poster. I think the formula must have changed because the strong ginger that used to tickle my nose is gone. I used to buy it at Publix when I lived in Florida and it just wasn't the same. Now I live in NC and can't find it anywhere. I have to buy ginger beer for that tickle, and to be reminded of the bottles I used to drink as a child when I visited my granny in Alma, Michigan.

It was a lonely night and I was remembering back to my childhood days when Vernors flowed, with Salays bologna and Made Rite Potato Chips. Possibly even a Faygo Redpop, which I couldn't believe the last time I ran across it - it was a marked down soda. How is society going to survive on Energy drinks and low fat vanilla chai lattes?

I remember Vernors Gingerale way back in the 1940's when I lived in Lakewood, Ohio. We would go to my Grandmother's in Toledo and she always had two or three cases in the pantry. Haven't seen it since I moved to MA many years ago. Last year I heard a neighbor talking of my old favorite and it brought back so many memories of the days when we visited my (Toledo Mama) as we called her. I wish I could find it close to me in MA. I love the great taste and would savor a bottle right now. If anyone knows where I could find it close to me, please do e mail me and let me know. There is nothing like Vernors Gingerale, no other gingerale could even come close to that great flavor. Here's to my finding a Vernors.

I remember, as a young child, in Detroit drinking Vernor's and remember how it tickled the nose. When we moved to California in 1961 and years later when it was first available it had that great taste and that 'tickles my nose' feeling to go along with it. Vernor's then disappeared for several years in California and when it reappeared it had lost that tickle the nose feeling and the taste wasn't as strong. I love the Diet Vernor's now but still miss the original old taste.

Dear Vernor's: I enjoyed your beverage as a kid while visiting Belle Isle along with munching on hot dogs. Boy, those were the days. My grandparents lived in Detroit and I always loved Vernor's Ginger Ale.Visited Detroit at Thanksgiving and I had to bring some back to New Jersey. I used to see Vernor's in Shoprite , but I haven't seen it in awhile. What stores carry it in Vineland, New Jersey??? I had my first can of Vernors this past weekend. Same great taste. Same memories. ha ha Please let me know what stores carry it here? Thanks for a great product. Marion

I grew up outside of Detroit and remember buying Bettermade chips hot of the line!!! The best part of this is, Vernors is the only thing that got me through my first pregnancy (morning sickness) when I lived in Texas. Now the military relocated me to a region without Vernors and I have been relying on friends/family to get it to me. This is fantastic!!! Now - if we could just get Buscemi's Pizza to ship out of state!

Having been born and reised in Detroit, I loved Vernors and miss it because it isn't sold in PA where I now live. My daughter in Mission Viejo, CA can buy it in bottles at Ralph's. I remember back in the '30s, my family used to drive somewhere around Detroit on hot summer evenings, where there was an outdoor Vernors drive-in. Girls in waitress uniforms would come to the car. place a tray on the rolled-down window, and bring ice-cold glasses of wonderful ginger ale. When we visited my grandparents in Dayton, OH, they had a similar drive-in. Does anyone else remember those drive-ins?

I have an old Vernor's bottle that is probably Quart size, 12 inches tall, 3 inches base width, no cap, greenish in color, says: Deliciously Different Vernor's Ginger Ale embossed around the middle, and around the bottom it says: Registered (twice) with 2 different sets of numbers and on the bottom says: Vernor's Ginger Ale Detroit, Mich. with VGA logo in the middle, how much do you think it will go for on eBay? Was this bottle originally sold in a carton or box with other bottles? What does the 2 sets of numbers mean? Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone. My dad worked for Vernors for 26 years. We loved the Soda/pop. I loved going into the plant on Woodward Ave. Everyone knew me. I could walk right through the lobby, past Deloris the receptionist, and go right onto the factory floor. It is one of my best childhood-Adult memories. The employees were like family. We had baseball games in the summer. Christmas parties every year. When the plant closed, my dad was heartbroken. Not ready to retire by any means. Now, I'm in the Middle East and you mention Vernors, and people think you’re crazy. It's so good to go home and have a Float, or ham baked with Vernors. Thank you for keeping the Vernors Gnome alive... I have some Vernors items that once we get home I'll put on ebay. I have duplicates, so I might as well share with others. I had no idea there was such a Vernors following. God Bless, and have a Float for me. Sheri

Having lived on the beautifull shores of Lake Huron, in a great little Norman Rockwell town called "Harrisville" my granfather used to carry Vernon's at his general store. Growing up there, none of us had need for doctors too much as Grandma used to just fix us her version of warm Vernon's to treat most ailments. And now, they are both gone....as is a source for Vernon's. Can anyone tell me where I can find a source for this wonder beverage in the Portland Oregon area or Seattle..prefferably in bottles...? I and my 94 year old mother would be most gratefull... thank you.

I can find Vernors routinely here in Florida, and the stuff in cans has improved from 20 years ago, but I still think that Vernors is not the same since bought by Cadbury/Seven UP. Is it my imagination, or is it sweeter and slightly less intense? I still love my Vernors, but it doesn't seem quite as intense. I'm a native Michigander (family settled in the Saginaw Valley b/4 MI was a state), and went to James Vernors Elementary in the 50's. Vernor's ON TAP at special events at school and trips to the Vernor's plant.

My Father (may God rest his soul) was a HUGE Vernor's fan. He purchased it by the case and us children were "forbidden" to take from his private stash. Growing up near Buffalo, NY, it was plenty available, but we were offered the Canada Dry Ginger Ale which was light and sweet. It's good, but Vernor's was the Holy Grail. Dad always made sure I was able to get a glassfull on those occassions when he had some himself. It made me feel special that he let ME have some Vernor's when my six brothers and sisters were drinking the other stuff. (Little did I know, we ALL were getting a little Vernor's if we wanted it.) Now I taste Vernor's and it brings back memories of Dad, those Holiday parties, those summer picinics and other special times. Thanks James Vernor. And thank you for keeping it going.

The homage you pay towards "Detroit's Drink" is explemporary! Vernor's has always been the benchmark by which ALL other gingerale's are to be compared. Even though it's a different soft drink, people can "talk" all they want about their beloved Coca-Cola but James Vernor and his company was doing it -20 Years- before Coke was even thought of!! Vernor's is owned by Cadbury-Schweppes out of Stamford, Connecticut and is distributed through the Pepsi Bottling Group (PBG) under license from Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up; Plano, Texas. That tingly, bubbly experience you get when you first have a sip is unmistakable. To set the record straight, the Vernor's icon is a "Gnome", not an elf or leprachaun, a spartan OR whatever! Have fun drinking and savoring the oldest soda pop ever made! Vernorsgnome

People ask me all the time, what is Vernors? and I reply that Vernors is one of a kind beverage. As I have grown up and moved across the country and back, Vernors has been with me every step of the way. My parents shipped to me before it was on shelves in Chicago, and then shipped it to me again when I moved to Rhode Island. It has been my comfort food, my savior when I have been depressed and homesick, and my best friend when I am on a diet or down with the flu. It is one childhood memory that will always be with me.

I, too, grew up in Michigan east of Ann Arbor and definitely grew up on the wonderful taste of Vernors! And like another writer here, have a wooden pop case which I have hauled from one end of the country to another! My Grandpa was very ill for the final years of his life and my Grandma made him what she called a "Bracer", which was half Vernors, half milk....and on special occasions, yes, the vanilla ice cream was added! He hated milk but the doctors insisted, so this was Grandma Win's way of getting it down in a delicious way. He also loved vanilla ice cream so that came out nightly with some good Smuckers or Sanders ice cream toppings! All these years later, we were thrilled to find Vernors in our local QFC now that we're living in WA. It has soothed many an aching tummy and fortified as well following knee and now today, oral, surgery! I'm so happy I took a chance and keyed in vernors.com! What a fun way to end a pretty grueling day!
